Point Loma

Point Loma is an amalgam of many different communities happily coexisting on a beautiful seven mile peninsula jutting into San Diego Bay. Close to downtown San Diego, Point Loma nonetheless has the feel of a seaside village with deep recognition of its roots. Portuguese explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo first set sight on the area in 1542 . Settlers followed in the La Playa area 1700s. Portuguese fishing fleets trolled the waters for tuna in the 1900s. Today Point Loma is home to Rosecrans National Cemetery, the Naval Base-Point Loma, Cabrillo National Monument, and diverse communities such as Ocean Beach, Shelter Island, Sunset Cliffs and La Playa.

Internationally known for its sailing, sport fishing and marinas, Point Loma is the perfect marriage of sun and sea as the roughly 40,000 residents can attest. The housing stock runs the gamut from modest bungalows to multi million dollar mansions directly on the Bay with some of the most architecturally interesting properties in all of San Diego.
